Login page cannot launch on iPadOS 16

Designed by people who don’t use their service regularly or at all

If I could give it less than a 1 star, I would. Forced to upgrade. Terrible design of UX, feels as though it’s just a ‘designer’ who just throw in ideas for a media platform who doesn’t watch cable at all and doesn’t understand key functionality and the average user journey of someone who still uses Starhub cable. What is this rage inducing thing, basic functionality is subjected to unnecessary added steps to get to, visuals are convulsed and so much noise presented in what used to be otherwise clear cut info at a glance like the guide. Additionally, when going into the menu you’re subjected to ads! It’s like paying for YouTube premium at a much higher price and still being subjected to something that you should be exempt from! Please please relook at UX and UI, please put in more thought into something that people are putting money into if not just close the whole service down. Or hire designers or even consultants who genuinely use the service instead of those that just ‘use’ it once a for the project and suddenly think their design is the masterpiece that triumphs over the ‘old and outdated’ one for the sake of ‘new and improved updates’.
If anyone see this, please consider other alternatives seriously…

Ridiculous

This is the worst, most user unfriendlyand laggy app I have ever used. They can take reference from the dozen other streaming apps they have on their app but they choose not to. Every single action takes at least 1 sec response time.
The picture quality when streamed on my TV is so low quality. It's so pixelated. Unbelievable.

Poor UX Interface

My parents were using the old fibre TV box. It was more responsive and user friendly. Simply key in the channel and it’ll load. Now, they have to go to the home page where it’s filled with info they don’t need or channels they didn’t subscribe. Have to go to Guide section just to watch tv. Select or change any channel and it’ll lag or stuck loading. Just give old people a break, why is it so difficult just to watch TV?

It simply does not work

I bought a Euro 2024 package to stream with the app.
I get an error PLB - 300 message when I want to load any video.
I contacted customer service through WhatsApp which couldn’t anything and told me to call 1366. I had 1366 on the the line for 40 minutes which ended up telling me someone would call me in 3 days. That’s quite a few games missed for 108$.

Rubbish

This is the most temperamental app I’ve ever used. Constant error messages trying to watch a live game - just need to keep on trying and eventually the game comes on. If you then leave the app to read email/texts etc then the cycle repeats. Incredibly frustrating. Starhub happy to take our money for the Euros but deliver a pathetic viewing experience

UX is just not good

Please fix your user experience. It is impossible to use the app since you’ve revamped the design. It all over the place. I can’t even find channels I want. Clearly it’s affecting other users too. Please take this feedback and work on some improvements. And recently there’s some error that keep occurring which doesn’t load the channel.

Lousy app

It crashes at least once a week, if not more often. I have to repeatedly delete the app and re-download. Sometimes that doesn’t work so I have to call StarHub to fix the issue. Extremely frustrating. The reviews have been poor for years. StarHub should consider hiring a new IT team.

EPL channel 221 on a Samsung tablet is pixelated

The EPL channel 221 video is pixelated and grainy if you watch it on a Samsung tablet device. I’ve used different types of Samsung tablets and all have the same problem. The other channels work fine but of course ch221 is the main channel. Have raised concern to Starhub but keep telling to reinstall and finally to watch on website (so why do we need an app?)

Is IMDA of any use?

This is one of the worst apps made for Apple iOS. The only reason I use it to watch premier League. And guess what? For any important match the app dies and gives error. Guess not much can be expected from telecom companies run by ex-bureaucrats. As a consumer in Singapore do we have any recourse to this pathetic s show? Very poor user experience updates

The latest updates to the tv Starhub app are worse than the old version, the design team has somehow managed make the experience worse, clearly simplicity and ease of use were not part of the outcome. To find what is relevant takes far too many clicks, the filtering behaviour is very poor because of this. There’s no indication of the programme that is playing! Only a useless image of a logo that serves little relevance. There is also huge latency which compounds the poor user experience, and the app has connectivity issues with the tv which weren’t there with the old app - now seems to be frozen in ‘loading user profile’ so unable to even watch anything, absolutely rubbish. Updates are supposed to improve the customer experience not make them worse, seems both design and development teams need an overhaul, absolutely terrible tv experience.

Navigation poor and unstable

This app is getting worse with every release. Navigation went from grid to icon. Error PLB300 is frequent. Unstable. Hangs. Requires logout and login. Less stable than previous. No fast forward 10 seconds. And this is the most expensive streaming subscription I pay for and has the worst UI UX. Embarrassment to Singapore. IMDA should investigate.

Do not launch UI before fully testing it

Horrible Navigation

The new/updated app design is totally unfriendly. The numbering of channels seems to have disappeared. I now need to recognise the image icons to locate the channel I’m looking for. And am still waiting for the ability to watch sports programmes on demand, which seems to have been scheduled for a later update. Whoever decided to release this version has obviously no clue how people look for or watch programmes on the phone. It’s designed like it’s an old school TV.

When casting to TV, it just suddenly crashed and cannot be started anymore, the app just keep crashing non stop. Then TV app itself cannot play audio 2 , both phone and tv app not working as normal. Very bad design

Worst update ever

This recent update which supposedly improves viewing experience is doing the complete opposite. Gone is the straight forward channel directory. Finding channels and previous day programs is so complicated and time wasting.
Give me back the old format!!!
Don’t undo something that works fine and replace it with rubbish!

Not supported on Apple TV

Switched over to starhub for my football Content. Been a starhub mobile user for close to 17 years. Now that I've the TV service. It's just disappointing that I can't watch it on my APPLE TV. Had no issues with SINGTEL TV GO in the past as it was supported. Hope Starhub would look into this.

More complicated.

Used to be an easy to use app but after the update it has become complicate to use. Need to scroll much more to reach the program you want to see. The menu language used to be easy to understand with a mixture of Chinese and English but now one can only either choose Chinese or English. Quite unfriendly.

Terrible update

This is a really terrible update, the TV guide grid has been removed as has the search functionality. It’s now hard to find what I want to watch.
Inexplicable really. How can functionality go backwards with an update?

Premier League Replay Interface is Poor

Spoiler alert - When mousing over the replay, the album art shows the final score. For those who want to watch the replay without knowing the final score upfront, please ask someone else to access the replay or try to be like Birdman when clicking on the match to start it. LOL

StarHub TV+

Why has the format changed???
The previous format was extremely User Friendly because in the grid format you would be able to see all the channels line up of viewing for the night and be able to decide what to watch and when - now you can only see what programme is currently available and click on that and ONLY see the next 2 shows!!! Why???
In addition, you NOW have to log in, input your favourites and click each programmes icon - also there is no indication of the Channel number.
Not a Very Happy User, hence my 1 star rating!!!

Player error

I am unable to watch EPL on the app on both my mobile devices despite being a sports+ subscriber.
Kept being prompted to either log out of the app, or to install the app again.
Did both to no avail. Was hoping to catch a live game while overseas but this app has failed me time and again.
Truly disappointing and frustrating.

Black screen

Very bad

Device mgmt already said 2 devices. Still getting the max active session error. Then I logged out and tried to login, 504 bad gateway issue. They can’t even handle this very basic function like login properly. Now is just the start of the season……

Frustrating

App doesn’t work on wifi, doesn’t cast well and multitude of issues with payment (non automated) and issues logging into the accounts. What a bummer that EPL supporters have to deal with such horrible service!

Starhub TV+ App

Starhub TV+ occasionally gives intermittent breakdowns when watching the show on mobile.
At time no audio for few seconds and at time video stopped when using 4G or 5G signal. Wi-Fi signal lesser issue only interrupted on audio for few second.
We hope the authorities can monitor the performance of the connection, it pretty frustrating watching a show in this condition!

Airplay option is disabled

When I tried to cast program using my iPhone, it prompted allow access to local network. After allowing access, the cast icon itself went missing! Now I don’t know how to cast to my tv. I tried on my iPad as well same result. Starhub, please find the solution!

Login issues

You will have to manually log in and log out after using the app. If not you will be not be able to access the app after 5 attempts. And it take ages to rectify with customer support. My login issue was reported on the 4th of February 2023, to date after 1 and a half months I still can’t get to login and use the app. Customer service is also pretty much useless. Always replying with, our dedicated team is working on your issue, please be patient. We will provide you with an update once a available. Pretty amazing that a simple login issue is taking so long to be resolved.

Poor PremierLeague streaming

I have used your stupid app on iPhone and iPad. Very often, I encounter the following issues
- screen hang
- maximum session reached after switch to watch different channel even though I am using the same device.
- low resolution when watching premier league
When I call your helpline at 1633, your Helpdesk is useless, giving me standard text book answers. Worse, ask to wait for 24h for network team to get back. Ask for your manager, the Helpdesk rejected.
What else are you good at, StarHub? If you cannot provide football service like what SingTel had done, pleasssss. Do not bid for Premier Legue next time. Do us fans a favour.
If I can give you a -5 stars, I will do so.

So far so good

Been using this app for close to 5 months now and it’s been alright. Though there are constant crashes which is kind of annoying but it is still watchable.
One thing that I would like to see is to be able to skip forwards or backwards 10 secs like other streaming platforms that have already offered this kind of item. Like whenever I have a message to reply while watching a catch-up show, it will go back to the start and it’s kind of irritating to say the least. Please implement this, would be great.

Wish there was a Picture in Picture function for this. Some times I’m watching a match on the go and I want to still be able to text without missing the game just cause I have to close the app to open another

Skipping of drama episodes

Earlier some months, I can’t watch other subscribed movies on my phone. Recently wanted to watch hk dramas, managed to watch on phone n cast on smart tv. Was fine for a few days, suddenly it skipped to the next episode every 5 mins n continued next even when I didn’t adjust it. Happened many times n StarHub so far haven’t replied me. I have to wait for another few days to get a return call from StarHub backend team.
My new comments after the above, every time there's a maintenance going on, on StarHub mobile, my channels on tv keep lagging n finding signal or something whenever I cast from mobile.
When is StarHub going to settle this issue?
